According to IRNA quoting Al Ekhbariya website, Iranian Ambassador to Syria Hossein Akbari and his accompanying delegation met with Syrian officials such as Mohammad Samer al-Khalil, the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Abdul Qadir Jokhdar, the Minister of Industries, and Fadi al-Khalil, the head of Syria’s International Cooperation and Planning Organization.
Samer al-Khalil told the Iranian delegation that joint investment projects are an important opportunity to realize the common interests of the two countries and a way to encourage Syrian companies to cooperate with Iranian companies that have scientific and practical experience as well as excellent facilities.
Abdul Qadir Jokhdar informed that the meeting focused on joint projects related to the production of tires, tractors and milk powder, which was previously discussed by Syrian Prime Minister Hossein Arnous during his trip to Tehran.
Fadi al-Khalil also pointed to the necessity of encouraging the private sector to enter into investment projects, saying that Syria has enacted laws to encourage investment, through which we can learn from Iran's experiences in technical and industrial fields.
The Iranian ambassador, for his part, informed about the willingness and readiness of many Iranian companies to work and invest in Syria.
We are trying to solve the problems with the aim of starting important and strategic joint projects in order to realize the interests of the two countries, Akbari noted.
In this meeting, the two sides also agreed on the formation of a joint industrial committee at the technical level with the aim of strengthening cooperation in the industrial field.
